For some students, and even adults, who have completed their degrees, essay writing has been a challenge. I can remember well the feeling of being in a sort of bewilderment, being lost in a thousand ideas, thoughts, sentences, paragraphs and other stuff. Very often I had to come up to my dad to help me with writing an essay. He has always been a very good essay writer, I must admit. Gradually, step by step, he taught me how to write an essay in a way so that it wouldn't be a burden, but something one can do for fun. That kind of knowledge came in very handy when I moved on to high school and especially college. Sometimes I even help my friends with essay writing and right now I am seriously considering becoming a full-time free lancer, since essay writing can mean lots of fun. Well, my recipe to making essay writing a pleasure is simple: the psychological setting is very important. Try not to think of having to write an essay as of something that you have been told to do by your professors; in fact they want to see your thoughts, your way of structuring ideas, your ability to analyze etc. You are able to do all of that, aren't you? Well, I am sure you definitely are! Your teacher/professor is not a psychic and therefore you have to show him that you can really do it. One of the simplest ways of doing it is through essay writing, since language reflects your thoughts. You can ask any cognitive linguist about it!
Now that you are in the right mood for it, let's try to brainstorm for ideas. Whatever springs up to your mind should be carefully written down. Remember, sometimes very good thoughts can "evaporate" in seconds, never to be caught again. So anything that comes to your head is worthwhile writing down. In some cases you might have to dig in for more information in regards to your essay. Therefore you might have to do some research in the area.
Then take a look at your assignment. What is the title of your soon-to-be-written essay? Now the time has come to pick out the most relevant ideas; that's where your list might come in handy. Ready with your ideas? Excellent! They will be the skeleton of the essay you are going to write. But a skeleton has to be titled first. Therefore you might want to think of the thesis statement for your essay. This is the eye-catcher, the supporter of your essay's central message. Now you main task is to give your essay some flesh. Any idea can be elaborated into a treatise, so once you have your "skeleton" you can give it some flesh! This is roughly the core steps of the essay writing process, at the least the way I do it. If you feel there is something appealing in these words and you can take this experience I am sharing, that is awesome! Good luck with writing your essay!
